DiGas and Arterail have signed a partnership agreement
DiGas and Arterail have signed a partnership agreement to promote the conversion of diesel locomotives and diesel multiple units to dual-fuel operations in Europe, particularly in France, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Italy.
DiGas and Arterail will jointly work to install dual-fuel systems using
compressed natural gas (CNG) onto diesel locomotive engines.
The DiGas technology offers up to 30% reduction in fuel costs and up to 80% in
PM. The conversion to dual-fuel requires little transformation: only gas tanks
and a specific control box are necessary to fully transform an engine and
prepare a locomotive for cost-effective and clean operations.
Arterail will work closely with operators to investigate transformation
projects and will deploy its engineering and technician workforce to implement
DiGas technology into selected locomotives.
About DiGas: DiGas is an engineering company specialized in dual-fuel
solutions. DiGas is based in Riga, Latvia. DiGas currently is advancing the
dual-fuel system within the project “Novel dual-fuel system for

gas operation — NYSMART”. This project has received funding from the European
Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under grant agreement No
784620.
About Arterail: Arterail is a company dedicated to rolling stock engineering,
maintenance, and refurbishment for railways operators and rolling stock owners.
